The name makes it sound like some sort of outdoor adventure spot, but this is actually a solid four-star accommodation tucked away in Midrand that feels more like a well-kept secret than anything rough around the edges. I mean, when you’re driving down New Road looking for it, you might second-guess yourself – it’s in this commercial building setup that doesn’t scream “hotel” from the outside, but honestly, that’s part of what makes it interesting.

The location in Johannesburg is pretty smart if you think about it. Midrand sits right between Joburg and Pretoria, so you’re not dealing with the chaos of the city center but you can still get anywhere you need to go without too much hassle. The area around CarlsWaild has this sort of business-meets-residential vibe that I actually found refreshing – there’s real life happening around you, not just tourist stuff. Parking was straightforward, which anyone who’s driven around Joburg will tell you is not always a given. The whole check-in process was surprisingly smooth too, none of that formal hotel lobby drama you sometimes get.

What really won me over was how they’ve managed to create something that feels almost apartment-like but with proper hotel service. The space has this lived-in comfort that you don’t always find in more traditional hotels – I’m talking about details like decent lighting for actually reading, storage that makes sense if you’re staying more than a night, that sort of thing. The 8.3 rating makes total sense once you’re there; it’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top, just genuinely comfortable and well-thought-out. You’ll notice little touches that suggest someone who actually travels had input on the setup. The area gets pretty quiet in the evenings, which is perfect if you need to catch up on work or just decompress after dealing with Johannesburg traffic all day. It’s one of those places where you end up staying longer than planned because it just works – and in a city where logistics can get complicated fast, that’s worth more than fancy lobby marble any day.

  Everything was very, very nice, exactly what we saw on pics. The cleanliness was on "PHA," comfortable beds, hot water, and the list goes on.
  The kids loved the pool area, Ooh! Not to forget the free WI-FI😃.
