The building itself has this sleek, contemporary feel – all clean lines and modern fixtures – but it doesn’t feel sterile like some of these newer places do. There’s actually character here, and the staff genuinely seem to know what they’re doing rather than just going through the motions. I mean, check-in was smooth, they knew exactly where decent coffee was nearby (crucial for me), and when I mentioned I had an early morning meeting in Sandton, they sorted out directions without me even asking.

The rooms are well thought out in that practical way that tells you someone actually stayed in one before designing them. Proper blackout curtains – not those flimsy things that let streetlight leak in all night. The shower has decent pressure, which honestly can be hit or miss around here. And here’s something small but telling: there are enough power outlets, and they’re actually positioned where you’d want them. The beds are comfortable without being overly soft, and the air conditioning works quietly, which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag. What really won me over though was the attention to local touches – not touristy stuff, but genuine nods to being in Joburg. The view from upper floors gives you this great perspective over the northern suburbs, especially toward Rosebank, and on clear days you can actually see the Magaliesberg mountains in the distance. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere that understands both business travelers who need things to work properly and leisure visitors who want a bit of local flavor. With ratings hovering around 8.6, it’s clearly hitting the mark for most people, and after spending time there, I can see why.
