Located right inside The Capital on Park building in Sandton, you’re basically getting hotel perks with apartment space – and honestly, that’s a pretty sweet deal when you’re staying in Johannesburg for more than a night or two.

The location on Katherine Street puts you right in the thick of Sandton’s business district, which I’ll admit can feel a bit sterile at first glance. But here’s the thing – you’re walking distance to Sandton City Mall (massive shopping complex, you can’t miss it), and the Gautrain station is close enough that getting to OR Tambo airport is actually painless. I mean, when was the last time anyone said getting to an airport was painless? The apartment itself feels more spacious than typical four-star hotel rooms, with a proper kitchen setup that actually works if you want to avoid restaurant prices for every meal. The building’s amenities are where you really feel that five-star hotel infrastructure – the lobby alone makes you feel like you’re staying somewhere more expensive than you actually are.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays despite being in the heart of the business district. Sure, weekday mornings get busy with the corporate crowd, but evenings and weekends? It’s surprisingly peaceful. The staff knows their stuff too – they understand that apartment guests might need different things than typical hotel visitors, like directions to the nearest Pick n Pay or help with longer-term logistics. The 8.4 rating makes sense when you factor in that you’re getting hotel services with apartment flexibility, plus you’re positioned perfectly for both business meetings in Sandton and weekend trips into the city center. It’s one of those places where the concept actually works better in practice than it sounds on paper.

  Convenient location. Safe and secure.
  
  What could be improved: The apartment was not ready at check in. I supplied the check in time on Booking.com. This was confirmed to me. I was then contacted by another party and asked for my check in time. I supplied the same time, again. And yet the apartment was still being cleaned when I arrived. However, it most certainly was NOT clean.
  I was informed that there'd been a "big party with lots of alcohol" the night before. This was also given as the reason why there were no wine glasses. As they'd all been broken. And yet for a 2-night stay no wine glasses ever appeared. Countertops and cupboards in the kitchen were sticky, the microwave had old food caked on the plate, the breadboard was in the drawer but with food on it, the rug in the lounge is filthy, the couch is grubby, the towels have light brown stains all over them, and the bed linen is worn and torn.
  The kitchen is not very well equipped – two forks (so you need to keep washing up), two large chef knives and no others, no bread knife.
  Two coffee pods per day were supplied as well as some sugar. No tea, no milk, no bottled water.
  Great touches like international plugs and an iron – but no hairdryer. And it's hard to find a convenient plug in the lounge to charge a phone and laptop at the same time, while still working on it. The light above the vanity doesn't work.
  All in all, extremely disappointing.

  Prime location, owner was very contactable. Room service was definitely a plus, security was very tight.
  
  What could be improved: A few missing amenities (I.e. hairdryer, vanity stool had a leg missing) and the key card stopped working at some point, but Mudiwa was very prompt in response time and attempted to rectify all issues.

  The location is very well placed and convenient. It has a nice city view, particularly at night. Although smaller than expected, it is cosy and comfortable. The hotel staff is also very helpful despite the accommodation being privately owned. Lastly, the owner is generally available when needed.
  
  What could be improved: There were too many inconveniences. Despite checking in way later than stated, we found the accommodation dirty which was a complete turn off. The following day as well, the place was not cleaned despite this being a service included in the package. Too much reliance is placed on the housekeeper and she is not robust at providing assistance and support. The place could also be cleaned better and check the maintenance of the toilet and light above the mirror. Please provide some bottled water for customers. Place has potential but more can be done.
