You’re maybe ten minutes from Sandton City if you need that big shopping mall experience, but you’re also tucked into this quieter residential area where you can actually hear yourself think. The apartment-style setup means you get a proper kitchenette – and honestly, after eating out for days in Johannesburg, being able to make your own coffee in the morning felt like a small luxury. The rooms are spacious in that way that makes you realize how cramped regular hotel rooms can be, though don’t expect fancy finishes or designer furniture. It’s functional, clean, and surprisingly comfortable.

What really stood out was how the staff actually seemed to know the area. When I asked about getting to the Apartheid Museum (which, by the way, is about a 20-minute drive), the guy at the front desk didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map – he sketched out the best route and mentioned which streets to avoid during rush hour. The parking situation is straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven around Johannesburg will appreciate. Security feels solid without being overbearing, and the whole complex has this calm, residential energy that’s pretty rare to find. Sure, you’re not getting room service or a fancy pool area, but if you want a base that feels more like staying in a local neighborhood than being trapped in a tourist bubble, The Bailey actually delivers on that front.

Best attractions in Johannesburg range from the historic Gold Reef City theme park to the trendy Maboneng Precinct and elegant venues overlooking the sprawling cityscape and Constitution Hill.

  The apartment itself – everything I needed was there for me to use and they all worked well. The location worked well for me as I was able to travel to multiple places I needed to be at close by.
  
  What could be improved: * The size of the fridge. Two separate parking lots for 61A and 61B.
  * Not really such a big deal just something to take note:
  ** The couch covers and blanket on the couch were not necessarily clean – I ended up washing the two lighter pillow covers.
  ** The mats could also be cleaned.
