You know what caught me off guard about The Don OneRosebank? Walking in, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the exterior – it’s tucked along Cradock Avenue in a way that almost feels residential – but the moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about design here. The lobby has this warm, contemporary African vibe without being heavy-handed about it, and the staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests arrive, which isn’t always a given at four-star places.

The location is actually brilliant if you know Johannesburg at all. You’re basically a two-minute walk from the Gautrain station, which I mean, if you’re flying into OR Tambo and want to skip the traffic nightmare into the city, that’s gold right there. The Rosebank area itself has really grown on me over the years – it’s got that urban energy without feeling chaotic, and you’ve got the Sunday market practically on your doorstep if you’re there on weekends. The rooms themselves are spacious (I stayed in one of the suites and could actually unpack my entire suitcase without playing Tetris), and honestly, the beds are the kind where you might accidentally sleep through your morning alarm. The bathrooms have proper water pressure too, which – let’s be real – can be hit or miss in South Africa sometimes.

What I really appreciated were the little details that show they get it. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building, there’s proper coffee in the rooms (not that instant stuff), and the restaurant downstairs serves food that you’d actually choose to eat rather than just tolerate because it’s convenient. The pool area up top gives you decent views over the Johannesburg skyline, and it’s usually quiet enough during weekdays that you can actually relax. Parking is secure and included, which saves you both money and the headache of street parking in the area. I’ll be honest though – if you’re the type who needs to be right in the thick of things every night, you might find Rosebank a bit mellow compared to somewhere like Sandton. But for me, that balance of being connected but not overwhelmed was exactly right. The service throughout my stay felt personal rather than scripted, and when you’re dealing with the intensity that Joburg can throw at you, having a genuinely comfortable place to retreat to makes all the difference.

  The property is 2mins walk around Mall and everything, the apartment and pictures on booking.com is real, it's a very neat ,new ,secured access with Biometrics ,the host is very attentive and available to any need ,this is a place to be and value for money ,the kitchenette allows you to prepare a proper meal for foodies like me ,the house keepers did a good job ! I will surely book again
