But honestly, this four-star spot in Randburg completely changed my mind about apartment-style accommodations. The building itself has this clean, modern look that doesn’t scream “budget travel,” and when you walk inside, there’s actually a sense of calm that you don’t always get in Johannesburg.

What really got me was how thoughtfully everything’s set up inside these units. The kitchens aren’t just an afterthought – they’re properly equipped with decent appliances and enough counter space that you can actually cook a real meal, not just heat up instant noodles. I spent a good chunk of my stay making breakfast there because, well, the local Woolworths is just a short drive away and I got a bit obsessed with trying South African rooibos tea first thing in the morning. The living areas feel spacious without being sterile, and the bedrooms are quiet enough that you won’t hear every car passing by on Annie Road (which was honestly one of my biggest concerns staying near a main street). The Wi-Fi actually works consistently too – I know that sounds basic, but you’d be surprised how many places get that wrong.

Here’s the thing about this part of Randburg though – it’s not touristy at all, which I actually loved. You’re staying where people actually live and work, so there are proper grocery stores, decent coffee shops, and those little family-run restaurants where locals grab lunch. Getting into the city center takes about 20 minutes depending on traffic, and there’s always somewhere to park when you get back, which is honestly a relief after dealing with Johannesburg’s parking situation all day. The staff here really knows their stuff too – they’ll tell you which routes to avoid during rush hour and where to find the best boerewors nearby. I mean, a 9.5 rating doesn’t just happen by accident, and after staying here, I totally get why people keep coming back. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re living somewhere rather than just passing through, if that makes sense.

Travelers should plan their Johannesburg visit at least two months ahead for major events like Heritage Day and Freedom Day celebrations, ensuring the best experiences and prime access to popular districts and attractions.

  We received a warm welcomed and shown around by the a very friendly and lovely lady, the owner.The apartment we chose was beautiful, well organized, very neat, spaceous, quiet and private.

  Ideal location for our specific needs. The property is secure, clean, and had everything we needed. Our host was lovely, adding many special little touches were appreciated (providing an umbrella when it was raining, welcome drink, sweet surprise for Christmas, regular updates on WhatsApp). We were very comfortable. The kitchen has a decent size fridge, airfryer, microwave, hotplate and toaster – more than the standard self-catering equipment.
  Decent crockery, glassware etc. We had access to the pool and a barbecue. Will stay again!

  Accommodation had excellent self-catering kitchen and equipment. The rooms are large and tastefully furnished. The beds were really comfortable and the electric blanket very appreciated! No extra charges for cleaning during our stay.
