The WiFi is solid too – I had video calls without any drama, which isn’t always a given in older converted buildings like this.

What struck me most was how the place manages to feel both urban and homey at the same time. The rooms aren’t huge, but they’ve got this cozy, lived-in quality that makes you want to actually hang out there instead of just crashing for the night. I spent way too much time just looking out at the street life below – there’s always something happening, whether it’s artists heading to their studios or people meeting up for drinks at one of the nearby spots. The area gets pretty quiet during the week, but weekends are when Maboneng really comes alive, so plan accordingly if you’re a light sleeper. Walking to places like Arts on Main or the weekend market takes maybe two minutes, and you’re close enough to the action that you don’t need to worry about transport late at night. I actually found myself staying in the neighborhood way more than I expected – there’s just this energy here that’s hard to find in other parts of Joburg. Sure, it’s not luxury, but that 7.8 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re getting for the price and location.

  What could be improved: The location, we were woken up by the neighbours who
  were fighting and screaming at the top of their voice. We could not find the place on google maps we kept turning up and down because there’s no sign saying the nook instead it says the crafship also entrance isn’t visible

  What could be improved: Upon check in, someone was already in our room and we were made to wait by security, which I found very strange because it wasn't a cleaner. WiFi reception was terrible, even changing positions of the router didn't help.. Please add more plates and a pan for people who love cooking. A fan would be appreciated too as the room can get very hot and humid.
