You know what surprised me most about The Parktonian All Suite Hotel? It’s how they’ve managed to create this genuinely comfortable space right in the heart of Braamfontein – and I mean right in the thick of things on De Korte Street. When I first walked into the lobby, honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from the outside appearance, but the place has this understated elegance that grows on you. The suites are properly spacious (hence the name, obviously), and I actually found myself using the kitchenette more than I thought I would – there’s something satisfying about making your morning coffee while looking out over Johannesburg‘s urban landscape.

What I really appreciated, and this might sound odd, is how the staff seemed to genuinely know the neighborhood. The guy at reception didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map – he actually marked up spots where I could grab decent food within walking distance and warned me about which streets get a bit sketchy after dark. That’s the kind of local insight you want from a four-star place, you know? The hotel sits in this interesting pocket of Braamfontein that’s been gentrifying over the past few years, so you’ve got this mix of old Joburg character and newer developments. I could walk to the University of the Witwatersrand easily, and Constitution Hill is basically next door if you’re into that sort of historical exploration.

The rooms themselves are well thought out – I mean, they’re calling them suites for a reason. Mine had this separate sitting area that didn’t feel like an afterthought, and the bathroom was actually big enough to move around in without bumping into everything. The Wi-Fi worked consistently (crucial for me since I was trying to work remotely), and the air conditioning was quiet enough that I could sleep through Joburg’s surprisingly noisy nights. I’ll be honest though – the parking situation can get a bit tight during busy periods, and you might want to ask for a room away from De Korte Street if you’re a light sleeper, since there’s a fair amount of traffic during the day. But overall, for the price point and location, it’s one of those places that delivers more than it promises, which is refreshing in a city where you sometimes get the opposite.

  The room was very spacious. Good view of the city. It has a balcony and close to many shops and banks in Braamfontein.
  
  What could be improved: I booked for 2, but the towels that were there were for only one person. I had to call housekeeping to bring other towels only for them to bring only one large bowl and told me house keeping closes at 5 pm, so that's the only towel they could find.
  
  On the following day, check out was at 11, the room service lady knocked at 8 am to ask if I needed the room cleaned… she knocked once and opened the door. The audacity, what if she found my partner and I undressed. It was 8 am. If it was after 11 am. and was pass check out time, I would have understood. I felt so violated. My privacy was violated.
  
  The water was cold, and the aircorns were not really giving out hot air.
  It's 2025. The hotel of this caliber should upgrade the TV sets so we can at least watch Netflix while traveling and play music via YouTube..
