The Ridgeback sits pretty comfortably in this mix, and honestly, the four-bedroom setup works brilliantly if you’re traveling with family or a group of friends who actually want to hang out together instead of hiding in separate hotel rooms. The living spaces flow naturally into each other, and there’s this lived-in quality that makes you want to kick off your shoes and stay awhile.

What really sold me was how the place handles the little things that matter when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night or two. The kitchen is actually functional – I mean, you can cook real meals here, not just reheat takeaway. There’s proper counter space, decent appliances, and enough dishes that you’re not washing up after every snack. The bedrooms are comfortable without being fancy, and the bathrooms have that reliable hot water pressure that becomes surprisingly important after a long day exploring the city. Parking is straightforward and secure, which anyone who’s driven around Joburg will appreciate. The neighborhood itself stays pretty quiet in the evenings, though you’ll hear the occasional security patrol – which is reassuring rather than annoying once you get used to the rhythm of things. During my stay, I found myself using it as a proper base rather than just a place to sleep, and that 8.8 rating makes perfect sense when you realize this isn’t trying to be some glossy showpiece – it’s just a solid, comfortable place that does exactly what it promises to do.

  The house was very spacious and had everything we needed. Nobody felt as if they were living on top of each other. It was great to have 3 bathrooms as we were quite a few people.
  The management and staff were friendly and helpful and went out of their way to sort out any minor issues.
  
  What could be improved: The house and garden look like they need a little bit of maintenance but still exceptionally comfortable.
