The room itself was spacious in a way that South African hotels sometimes aren’t, with proper storage space and a bathroom that didn’t feel like an afterthought. I particularly appreciated the attention to soundproofing because, let’s be honest, nobody wants to hear every conversation in the hallway at 6 AM.

  I liked everything about the place, the host was really great and assisted us with everything we needed and more. She constantly checked on us and made sure our stay was comfortable.

  It is a large 1 bedroom apartment with kitchen and a shower. The host is next door. It is in a mixed mostly African area of Jo’burg (which probably accounts for the low price. There are 2 small supermarkets nearby and a bar serving food.
  
  What could be improved: The nearest supermarket which provides English food (e.g. breakfast cereal is about 2km away at Northcliff corner Bayers Naude Drive.
  There are a lot of “4th Streets” round here, it can be difficult for Google Maps to find the right one.

  What could be improved: I slipped down the stairs , safety isn’t to standard for the price. I didn’t like that the property did not have any type of cooling system. I didn’t like that I had to wait for a time to use utilities and the amount of electricity consumption made me a bit anxious. I had to leave because I couldn’t sleep comfortably with the mosquitos as I had to sleep with open windows and stress about rain
