I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Urban Escapes Rosebank Apartments on Cradock Avenue, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the name alone. But this four-star spot in Johannesburg really surprised me in the best way possible. The building has this modern, clean-lined look that fits perfectly with Rosebank’s whole vibe, and you know what struck me immediately? How quiet it felt despite being right in the heart of one of Joburg’s busiest areas.

The apartments themselves are actually proper apartments – not just hotel rooms with a kitchenette thrown in as an afterthought. I mean, you’ve got full-sized fridges, decent counter space for cooking (which I actually used), and living areas where you can spread out without feeling cramped. The bedrooms are well thought out too, with blackout curtains that actually work – trust me, this matters when you’re dealing with jet lag or those bright highveld mornings. What I really appreciated was the attention to little details: proper hangers in the closets, enough power outlets where you need them, and Wi-Fi that doesn’t drop out every ten minutes like some places I could mention.

Location-wise, you’re basically in the sweet spot of Rosebank. The Gautrain station is close enough that you can hear the trains if you really listen, but far enough that it’s not intrusive at all. I loved being able to walk to the Rosebank Mall when I needed something (or honestly, just wanted decent coffee and air conditioning), and The Zone shopping area is practically next door. The parking situation is solid too – secure basement parking that you don’t have to stress about, which anyone who’s spent time in Joburg will tell you is worth its weight in gold. I actually ended up extending my stay an extra two days because the whole setup just worked for me. The staff genuinely seem to care about making things smooth – they helped me figure out the best route to avoid traffic when I had to get to Sandton for meetings, and the housekeeping team was thorough without being intrusive. It’s one of those places where you can tell they’re used to hosting people who are staying for more than just a night or two, whether it’s for business or extended leisure trips. The 8.5 rating it has makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but it nails the things that actually matter when you’re living somewhere temporarily.

  The apartment is well located and well within walking distance of key places in Rosebank. Very neat apartment with everything you need for a short stay.
  
  What could be improved: The building is under going construction. To be fair, I was informed of this before staying there. I experienced no noise at night however they did start work quite early (around 7am). Thankfully I had to leave early so didn't mind the noise but it would've been annoying if I was sleeping in.

  Attention to detail. Everything was top tier, from concierge (Mfundo) to Bauer pots, to multiple throws to proper cutlery and crockery. We got way more than what we paid for. Super amazing for an establishment that has only been in operation for a month. IMPRESSIVE
