I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Urban Oasis Apartments at The Median on Cradock Avenue, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The name sort of promises this zen retreat vibe, but you know what? It actually delivers on that promise in a really understated way. This three-star place sits in a quiet pocket of Johannesburg that feels surprisingly removed from the city’s usual hustle, even though you’re still close enough to everything that matters.

The apartments themselves have this lived-in comfort that I really appreciated – nothing too flashy, but everything works exactly as it should. I mean, the kitchen actually had proper counter space (you’d be amazed how rare that is in apartment-style accommodations), and the living area had enough room to spread out without feeling like you’re camping in a hotel room. The WiFi was solid throughout my stay, which honestly saved me from having to work in lobby areas like I usually do. What really struck me was how quiet it gets in the evenings – you’re on a residential street, so there’s none of that constant traffic noise you get closer to the CBD. The only sounds I remember are the occasional hadeda calls in the morning, which actually became pretty charming after a day or two.

Location-wise, you’re in this sweet spot where local coffee shops and small restaurants are walkable, but you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds. There’s decent street parking most of the time, though I’d recommend getting back before evening if you want a spot right outside. The staff – well, they’re genuinely helpful without being overly formal about it. Check-in was straightforward, and when I had a minor issue with the shower pressure, someone came up within an hour to sort it out. No drama, no lengthy explanations needed. I actually ended up extending my stay by two nights because the whole experience just felt… easy, I guess? Sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re traveling. The 7.5 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be a luxury experience, but it does the fundamentals really well, and there’s something refreshing about a place that knows what it is and just gets on with being good at it.

  Location was very good, and very friendly team.
  
  What could be improved: The sheets and towels where badly stained ( Jik stained) and need urgent replacement. Towels are old and in bad conditions too.
  Roof in the shower of the main bathroom, has hectic mold which should be cleaned.
  a hair dryer would be a good touch and would be very appreciated by the next people using the unit.,

  Appartamento situato in un bel condominio, in zona centralissima a due passi dal centro commerciale. Molto spazioso, pulito e dotato di tutto il necessario. Sono presenti due bei bagni. Eccellente rapporto qualità prezzo.

  What could be improved: There was no heating in the apartment and inspite of asking and being promised a heater none was provided. Also there was no sign of cleaner at promised time we had to wait and delay our activities to allow her access. The system of checking in needs to be improved and also communicated to the security desk at entrance. We were made to wait close to an hour before being allowed upstairs to apartment. Also it would be helpful to have wifi passwords and names available in apartment instead of having to call host to get. One of the bedrooms in apartment had no window coverings so made it difficult to sleep in with light coming in from coridoor.
