Urban Oasis at One Rosebank Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Urban Oasis at One Rosebank, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a hotel tucked inside what’s essentially a mixed-use development. But you know what? Sometimes the most surprising places turn out to be exactly what you need, and this three-star spot really delivers on that “oasis” promise.
The thing about staying here is that you’re literally in the heart of one of Johannesburg‘s most happening neighborhoods, but once you’re up on that third floor at 37 Cradock Avenue, there’s this weird sense of being removed from all the hustle below. I mean, Rosebank can get pretty intense – it’s where locals actually want to hang out, not just another tourist trap. You’ve got the Gautrain station right there (which honestly makes getting to and from OR Tambo so much easier), plus all these great restaurants and that weekend market everyone talks about. The location is sort of perfect if you want to feel like you’re staying where real Joburg life happens.
What struck me most was how they’ve managed to create something that feels genuinely residential rather than hotel-corporate. The units – and they really do feel more like apartments than hotel rooms – have this lived-in quality that’s actually quite refreshing. There’s proper kitchen space if you want to grab groceries from Woolworths downstairs (yes, there’s a Woolworths in the building, which is brilliant for late-night snacks or morning coffee supplies). The 9.3 rating makes total sense when you experience how thoughtfully everything’s been set up. Nothing feels rushed or cheaply done, even though you’re not paying five-star prices.
I loved that you could hear the city humming below but it never felt intrusive – there’s something energizing about being connected to Johannesburg’s rhythm without being overwhelmed by it. The staff actually know the area well too, which you don’t always get. They’ll tell you which restaurants are worth the walk and which ATMs to avoid after dark (practical stuff that matters). Parking was straightforward, check-in was quick, and honestly, the whole experience felt more like borrowing a friend’s really nice apartment than staying in a traditional hotel. If you’re the type who likes to feel embedded in a place rather than just passing through, this spot gets it right.

The cleanness of the place
Kitchen was perfect
What could be improved: The carpetsPleasant – Matthew from Australia – September 9, 2025 (6/10)
What could be improved: Poor quality construction and design. Can clearly hear voices and music/television from neighbouring rooms most of the night. Poorly supplied. No light bulbs in the lamps, rock salt in a salt "shaker" (not a salt "grinder"). It was however very clean. Staff friendly enough but somewhat incompetent and unable to provide simple instructions or explanations. The car parking space numbers are randomly allocated, there's no order to the numbers, so you have to drive around trying to find your number in a large underground carpark. One of the elevators to the carpark was not working, requiring a long walk to the other side of the building to use the other elevator
Great location – Ladyvee from South Africa – September 4, 2025 (8/10)
What I love the most is the security..The apartments are beautiful and clean and the area is close to Rosebank mall

Amazing interior designing, attention to detail, definitely value for money, great collaboration between the hosts and the developers, I would choose here over and over, a new gem in the heart of the rosebank district.
What could be improved: Nothing…Some work needed – Aamena from Australia – August 5, 2025 (7/10)
I thought the staff were incredibly friendly and a special mention to the driver, Mfundo was friendly and helpful and so easy to communicate with, he helped me on a daily basis, I will def be back!
What could be improved: Some things didn't work, electricity was cut in the apartment because the host didn't top it up before my stay, he also didn't notify the front desk of my arrival so they had to look for information and after a 14hr flight all I wanted to do was get to my room and sleep!. I will say the reception staff were excellent in dealing with thisI enjoyed staying. The hosts communication is good and they do give special requests. – Anonymous from South Africa – July 15, 2025 (10/10)

The apartment is beautiful as in the pictures.
Stunning definitely my go-to when I am around Gauteng again.
What could be improved: The fact that I was not notified that there was no running water. The water only returned at check out time.
