You know what really surprised me about Vanilla Guesthouse? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Randpark Ridge, and honestly, I almost drove past it the first time – but that’s actually part of its charm. The whole area feels more like you’re staying in a proper neighborhood rather than some touristy bubble, which I really appreciated when I needed to escape the usual Johannesburg hustle.

The moment you walk in, there’s this genuinely warm feeling that’s hard to fake – I mean, you can tell when a place actually cares versus when they’re just going through the motions. The rooms are surprisingly spacious for what you’d expect from a guesthouse, and they’ve got this sort of understated elegance going on. Nothing flashy, but everything works properly (the shower pressure was excellent, thank goodness). What I loved most was how quiet it gets at night – Karee Street doesn’t get much through traffic, so you actually sleep well here. The four-star rating feels spot-on; it’s not trying to be a luxury resort, but it delivers on all the things that matter.

I have to mention the breakfast situation because it was genuinely impressive – they don’t just throw some cereal and toast at you. Fresh fruit, proper coffee, and they’ll cook eggs however you want them. The staff seemed to remember little details about guests too, which sounds small but makes a huge difference when you’re traveling. Parking was never an issue (there’s plenty of space), and I felt completely safe leaving my car there overnight. The location in Randpark Ridge Ext 2 is actually pretty clever – you’re close enough to get into central Johannesburg or Sandton without too much hassle, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with city noise and chaos. If you’re flying in or out, the drive to OR Tambo isn’t terrible either. Honestly, for the price point and the genuine hospitality, I’d definitely stay here again – it’s one of those places that just gets the fundamentals right without any unnecessary fuss.

  Serenity at it's best. Everything is thought out like electric blanks in your bed. It's super clean and fresh everyday. Information is on the walls for facilities.

  Great Location fit for our purpose. We went to the nearby Church. Me & my mom loved the rooms. Warm, beds fitted with, electric bankets. There is a park close by for afternoon walks. Breakfast was superb. Fresh mushrooms.

  Location was perfect for our purposes to visit certain businesses and family and friends. The setting was serene and well catered for our needs. Staff were pleasant and very accommodating with a request for vegetarian breakfast.
  
  What could be improved: Most amenities were available and very comfortable. One room had issues with the toilet cistern and that was addressed promptly. The only thing missing was hangers to hang clothing – that can be resolved with ease – thankfully we didn't really need hangers on this trip since we were not attending a wedding or formal functions.

  Serene, beautiful property! Rooms were spacious, clean and had all necessary amenities. We will definitely be staying here again. Breakfast was delicious as well.
