The thing about staying here is that you’re literally on North Road, which means you can walk to Sandton City Mall in about ten minutes (though honestly, with Joburg’s unpredictable weather, you might want to drive anyway). I mean, Nelson Mandela Square is right there too – you know, the one with that massive Mandela statue where all the tourists take photos. But what I really appreciated was how the hotel sits just far enough back from the main Rivonia Road chaos that you don’t get all that traffic noise at night. The rooms are genuinely quiet, which is saying something considering how busy this area gets during the day.

The four-star rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be the Carlton or anything ultra-luxe, but everything works exactly as it should. The staff actually seem to know the area well, which helped when I needed directions to some of the smaller business parks that GPS sometimes struggles with. You know what struck me most though? The attention to practical details. Like, there’s proper workspace in the rooms with decent lighting (not just some tiny desk shoved in a corner), and the Wi-Fi is actually fast enough for video calls – crucial if you’re here for work. The bathrooms are spacious too, with that rainfall shower head that’s become standard but somehow feels more substantial here.

Parking was straightforward, which anyone who’s driven around Sandton will tell you is not a given. During my stay, I noticed the hotel attracts a mix of business travelers and tourists, but it never felt overwhelmingly busy or impersonal. The breakfast area has this nice buzz in the mornings without being chaotic, and they know how to make a proper cappuccino. I actually ended up chatting with other guests pretty naturally – there’s something about the layout that encourages conversation without forcing it. If you’re planning to explore beyond Sandton, you’re about twenty minutes from the airport on a good traffic day, and getting into the city center is easy enough via the Gautrain station that’s walking distance away. With a 9.4 rating from other guests, I can see why people keep coming back – it’s one of those places that just handles the basics really well while giving you a solid base to explore from.
