I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to V&S Apartments-Luxury Apartment2 on Surrey Avenue, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from the name alone. But this four-star property in Randburg really surprised me in the best way possible. The location is actually pretty clever if you know Johannesburg – you’re tucked away from the main city chaos but still close enough to everything that matters.

What struck me right away was how this place feels more like staying in someone’s well-appointed home rather than a typical hotel. The apartments here are genuinely spacious, and I mean properly spacious – not that “spacious” nonsense you usually get where they’ve crammed a kitchenette into a corner and called it a day. The kitchen actually has counter space where you can spread out if you’re the type who likes to grab groceries from Woolworths and cook a proper meal. Speaking of which, there’s decent shopping nearby, though you’ll want to ask the front desk for directions since Surrey Avenue can be a bit tricky to navigate if you’re not familiar with Randburg’s layout.

The whole setup works particularly well if you’re in town for more than just a quick business trip – I’ve stayed here during both busy conference season and quieter times, and honestly, the staff maintains the same level of attention either way. Parking is straightforward, which anyone who’s tried to park in central Joburg will appreciate. The Wi-Fi actually works properly throughout the unit (tested it extensively while working from the dining table), and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed around here. You know what really sold me though? The little details – proper coffee mugs instead of those tiny hotel cups, enough towels that you don’t feel like you’re rationing them, and blackout curtains that actually block out the morning sun. It’s those kinds of things that make you realize someone who actually travels designed this place. The 8.5 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve been there – it’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top, just solid and thoughtful in a way that makes your stay genuinely comfortable.

  What could be improved: le bruit au niveau de mon pallier ou celuidu haut ou celui du bas des fois au delà des heures autorisées , le manque d'eau presque pendant tout mon séjour j'y étais plus d'une semaine mais pas de passage pour nettoyer je crois que cela se fait si l'occupant est là plus longtemps , les draps à mon arrivée n'était malheuresement pas propre ce aui fait que je dormais directement sur la couverture et me couvrait avec la seconde qui venait des placards, le tapis de la salle de bain et les rideaux n'étaient pas propre du tout.

  The property is quite comfortable, kitchen is well supplied with utensils and everything you would need (no oven though). WiFi works well, and the place is easy to navigate. Has lovely sunlight shining through the property.
