This three-star spot on Alice Lane puts you right in the thick of Sandton‘s business district, which sounds corporate and boring until you realize how incredibly convenient it makes everything.

I mean, when they say you can walk to Mandela Square, they’re not kidding – it’s literally a few minutes on foot, and trust me, that matters when you’re juggling meetings or just want to grab decent coffee without calling an Uber. The Gautrain connection is the real game-changer though, especially if you’re flying into OR Tambo. Actually getting to and from the airport without dealing with Johannesburg traffic? That alone makes this place worth considering. The hotel itself sits in one of those glass-fronted buildings that blend into Sandton’s skyline, nothing too fancy but clean and modern enough that you won’t feel like you’re roughing it.

What I appreciated most was how the staff seemed to get that most guests are here for business or using Sandton as a base to explore the area. Check-in was refreshingly quick – no unnecessary upselling or lengthy explanations of amenities you probably won’t use. The rooms are straightforward and comfortable, nothing Instagram-worthy but honestly, when you’re spending your days exploring Johannesburg or stuck in meetings, you just want a clean bed and reliable WiFi. The area can get pretty busy during peak hours (Alice Lane sees its share of traffic), but the location means you’re walking distance from some excellent restaurants in and around Sandton City. There’s something satisfying about being able to duck into the mall when the afternoon thunderstorms hit – and they do hit hard during summer months.

I’d say this works particularly well for business travelers who want to be close to the financial district without paying five-star prices, or for tourists who prefer staying somewhere with actual infrastructure rather than more remote areas. The Mandela Square proximity means you’ve got entertainment options, and honestly, sitting at one of those outdoor cafes people-watching while Sandton’s business crowd rushes past is pretty entertaining. Just keep in mind that weekends can feel a bit dead in this part of town – it’s very much a business district that empties out after hours and on Sundays.

  The contact person Nikki and the housekeeper were very friendly. The facilities were working, and the apartment was very clean. The property was very close to Sandton City Mall and Mandela Square.
