It’s actually tucked away on Grayston Drive in a way that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something – not quite hidden, but definitely not screaming for attention either. I mean, Johannesburg has this reputation for being all hustle and concrete, but this four-star spot manages to create this surprisingly calm bubble right in the thick of Sandton’s business district.

The apartments themselves are honestly more spacious than I expected – and I’ve stayed in my share of so-called “apartment hotels” that turn out to be glorified hotel rooms with a tiny kitchenette shoved in the corner. Here, you actually get proper living space that doesn’t feel cramped. The kitchens are functional enough that you could cook a decent meal if you wanted to (though honestly, with all the restaurants within walking distance, I’m not sure why you would). What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even though you’re essentially in the heart of South Africa’s financial hub. The soundproofing is solid – no random car horns at 3 AM or construction noise bleeding through.

The staff genuinely seem to know their stuff about the area, which is rarer than you’d think. When I asked about getting to Constitution Hill without dealing with traffic, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward an Uber – he actually mapped out the Gautrain route and mentioned which car to get on for the best air conditioning. That’s the kind of local insight that makes a difference. The location works brilliantly if you need to be in Sandton for business meetings – Nelson Mandela Square is basically next door, and you can walk to most of the major office towers without breaking a sweat. But it’s also surprisingly well-connected to the rest of the city if you want to venture beyond the corporate bubble.

I’ll be honest though – this isn’t the flashiest place you’ll find in the area. The decor is clean and modern but won’t blow you away, and some of the fixtures show their age a bit. The pool area is nice enough but gets pretty busy during lunch hours when nearby office workers drop by. Still, for the price point and the amount of space you get, it feels like solid value. Plus there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that focuses on being genuinely comfortable rather than trying to impress you with marble everything and over-the-top amenities you’ll never use.
