I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Wild Olive Executive Suite on Waterfall Avenue in Craighall, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. The area’s got this interesting mix of residential charm and business district energy, and this place sits right in that sweet spot. What really struck me initially was how they’ve managed to create something that feels more like a sophisticated apartment than your typical hotel experience.

The four-star rating here actually feels earned, you know? I mean, I’ve stayed at plenty of places that slap stars on their marketing but don’t deliver – this isn’t one of them. The suites are genuinely spacious, and I’m talking about room to actually spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re playing Tetris with your luggage. The kitchenette setup is properly thought out too, not just some mini-fridge and microwave situation. You can actually cook a decent meal if you want to, which honestly saved me quite a bit since Johannesburg’s restaurant scene, while fantastic, can get pricey if you’re eating out every night.

What I really appreciated – and this is something you don’t always get in Randburg – is how quiet it stays despite being so well-connected to everything. Craighall has this lovely tree-lined feel that somehow buffers a lot of the city noise, and the Wild Olive takes advantage of that perfectly. The staff genuinely seems to know the area well too, not just the tourist spots but actual local recommendations. When I asked about good coffee nearby, they pointed me toward this little place that I never would’ve found on my own. Parking was straightforward, which anyone who’s driven around Jo’burg will tell you is not something to take for granted. The whole check-in process was refreshingly smooth – none of that endless paperwork or waiting around that seems to plague some of the bigger chain places. I actually found myself extending my stay by a couple of days, partly because the rate was reasonable but mostly because it just felt comfortable in a way that made leaving seem unnecessary. The 9.2 rating you see online? Yeah, that tracks – it’s the kind of place where the small details actually work in your favor rather than against you.

  Une suite vraiment spacieuse et confortable et Dorné est disponible. Il a été possible de laver notre linge au cours de notre séjour d'une semaine. L'emplacement est très agréable, au sein d'une propriété dans une zone sécurisée et très résidentielle.
  
  What could be improved: Nous avons l'habitude de ne jamais prendre de petits déjeuners mais pour ceux qui en prennent il faut s'organiser car à part les boissons chaudes pour lesquelles il y a tout (machine à expresso, bouilloire), il n'y a pas de coin cuisine: pas de plaque pour cuire des oeufs par exemple et ni même d'évier.
