I found myself walking to spots I never would have discovered staying in Sandton or somewhere more obvious.

Here’s what I actually appreciated: the sound insulation is solid (crucial in this area), the check-in was refreshingly straightforward, and the staff seemed to know their neighborhood inside and out. When I asked about getting to Constitutional Hill, the guy at the desk didn’t just point me toward an expensive taxi – he explained the walking route and mentioned which times of day felt most comfortable. That kind of local insight is worth a lot. The only minor thing I’d mention is that parking can get a bit tight during busy periods, but honestly, that’s pretty standard for anywhere worth staying in central Joburg.

The whole experience felt authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find – like staying somewhere that locals might actually recommend to their friends visiting from out of town, rather than just another place designed for tourists who want to stay safely removed from the actual city. If you’re the type of traveler who wants to understand Johannesburg rather than just pass through it, 4AM Legacy Studios delivers on that promise without making you sacrifice comfort.

  It had a very special aura, and I felt very comfortable there. The host was always available and easy to reach. The location in Maboneng is fantastic. Vibrant art, bars, and restaurants are just around the corner. The accommodation was quiet, and the comfortable bed made for a fantastic night's sleep. From the window, you could watch the interesting hustle and bustle on the street. You have a spectacular panoramic view from the roof terrace on the 7th floor. A must-visit!

  The property was beautiful and smelt great. The attention to detail was incredible. Our host was thoughtful by leaving chocolates, bananas and biscuits for us to snack on.
