Apartment in Sandton, Masinginta Towers Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Apartment in Sandton, Masinginta Towers, I wasn’t sure what to expect from an apartment-style place in one of Johannesburg’s busiest business districts. But after spending a few nights there, I actually get why people choose this over traditional hotels in the area.

The location on West Road South puts you right in the thick of Sandton’s financial hub, which means you’re walking distance to Sandton City (honestly, one of the best shopping centers I’ve been to in South Africa) and the Gautrain station – that high-speed rail connection is a game-changer if you need to get to OR Tambo airport without dealing with Johannesburg traffic. What surprised me though was how quiet the apartment actually stays, even with all the business activity around. The Masinginta Towers building itself has this solid, modern feel to it, and the security is pretty tight – you know, the kind where they actually check your ID and make calls, not just wave you through.

The apartment setup is where this place really shines compared to your typical four-star hotel room. You get a proper kitchen (I mean, a real one with full-size appliances), which honestly saved me a fortune on meals since eating out in Sandton can get pricey fast. The living space feels genuine too – not that sterile hotel furniture that looks nice but isn’t comfortable. I actually found myself hanging out there in the evenings instead of just crashing and leaving like I do in most hotels. The Wi-Fi was solid, which matters if you’re trying to work or stream something after a long day exploring the city. Parking was straightforward, though you’ll want to clarify that when booking since Sandton can be tricky if you’re driving around with a rental car. The whole experience felt more like staying at a friend’s place who happens to have excellent taste and lives in a really well-managed building. With a 7.9 rating, it’s clearly hitting the mark for most people – and after staying there, I can see why someone would pick this over a traditional hotel, especially if you’re in Johannesburg for more than just a quick business trip.

Reviews of Apartment in Sandton, Masinginta Towers

  • Exceptional – Opelo from South Africa – September 1, 2025 (10/10)

  • Great location, sub par service and cleanliness needs attention – Nersan from South Africa – April 25, 2025 (4/10)

Great Location. Check and check out were handled well and the gentleman who helped was friendly, courteous and on time.

What could be improved: No soap (hand soap or other) in any bathrooms. We were told guests were expected to bring their own soap. Apartment was not cleaned well. Severe dust collection behind the bed. Only two sets of towels provided for 4 people. Damaged mirror frame with pieces of frame left in the apartment. Carpet rolled up and left in the corner of the apartment. Broken kettle. This has the potential to be a high end apartment rental but it looks somewhat neglected

  • Amei – Leocadia from Mozambique – February 19, 2025 (7/10)

Não tive pequeno almoço não sei se estava incluso

What could be improved: Devia ter sabonete nos quartos
Devia ter papel higiênico de reserva

  • Pleasant – Millicent from Zimbabwe – December 20, 2024 (6/10)

I loved the decor and the space it our apartment had. It was reasonably sized .

What could be improved: The apartment was not family friendly . The weekend seemed to be busy and so the reception area was often crowded . There was casual vaping ;smoking , indecent dressing by some patrons which gave it a brothel like feel. This just killed the ambiance of an otherwise decent place

  • Exceptional – Richard from South Africa – November 8, 2024 (10/10)

  • Exceptional – Nordino from Mozambique – September 9, 2024 (10/10)

    Gostei de tudo
    Muito bonito o sítio . È demais

  • Fair – Wendy from South Africa – June 15, 2024 (5/10)

It’s very central and close to the hospital. My husband had to go for an operation and had to stay in the city for at least a week after he was discharged.

What could be improved: No clothes line or laundry drying rack.
No small sharp knives for peeling fruit or vegetables.
    No wooden or carving boards.
Very little space to put groceries in the kitchen.
The carpets in the living and bedrooms can do with some proper cleaning or vacuuming.
Only one heater for the entire apartment.
The restaurant noise / music Friday and Saturday was terrible and carried on way past 12h.
The dishwasher was out of service (apparently blocked). PS. For what we paid, I’m sure it could have been fixed before we arrived.
Only 3 coffee mugs and 3 glasses provided.

  • Exceptional – Jumoke from South Africa – December 28, 2023 (10/10)

What could be improved: no air con

  • Very Good – Richard from South Africa – December 26, 2023 (8/10)

  • The stay was nice and comfortable we had everything we need with in reach. – Anonymous from South Africa – June 6, 2023 (10/10)

I liked the decor and location everything is accessible

What could be improved: That there isn’t a proper aircon unit in the lounge.
