Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Erima Lodge on Edward Lippert Road, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The area isn’t exactly where most tourists end up in Johannesburg, but you know what? That actually turned out to be one of its biggest advantages. This four-star place sits in a quiet residential pocket that feels refreshingly removed from the usual hustle, yet you’re still only about fifteen minutes from Sandton if you need to get into the thick of things.

The lodge itself has this really welcoming, almost homey vibe that I wasn’t expecting. I mean, sure, it’s got all the professional touches you’d want – the rooms are well-appointed, the staff genuinely seems to care about getting things right – but there’s something unpretentious about the whole setup that I found pretty refreshing. The gardens are actually lovely (and I’m usually not the type to gush about landscaping), with these established trees that make the whole property feel like it’s been there forever, even though everything’s clearly well-maintained. What really struck me was how quiet it gets in the evenings – you’re in one of Africa’s biggest cities, but you’d never know it sitting on their terrace after dark.

Honestly, the practical stuff works really well too. Parking is straightforward, which anyone who’s driven around Joburg will tell you is no small thing. The rooms have that solid, comfortable feel without trying too hard to be flashy – good beds, reliable wifi, and the kind of breakfast setup where you actually want to linger a bit instead of rushing off. The location grows on you once you realize how easy it is to slip out to nearby restaurants or grab supplies without dealing with major traffic snarls. I ended up having some of my best conversations with other travelers here, maybe because the atmosphere just naturally encourages people to actually talk to each other instead of everyone rushing around with their heads down. It’s the sort of place where you find yourself staying an extra night just because, well, why not?

  The staff was so friendly with me through out my stay making me feel so welcomed. The cleanness of the room also made my stay comfortable and the staff would go out of their ways to fix whatever I would complain about.
  
  What could be improved: The stay would have being even more fascinating if the facility would also offer the breakfast more especially for business travelers to hustle free before their meetings or trainings. Again, the fact that there is no mark or any sign for a name of the lodge by gate got me lost in my first day there. Please reconsider labeling the lodge so that we are sure of the facility when we get there as first time visitors.

  It was fantastic. It was really cold the day I arrived and prior to my arrival, the heater was put on in my room. The staff made my stay very pleasant. I prolonged my stay.

  It was great, the location excellent ,the host efficient and explained everything we needed to know, the room was very warm and clean. The fact that we had the remote for the gate was great. Good value for money. Definitely going back soon.

  I was greeted by the manager upon arrival which was a nice touch , because my first stay wasn't exceptional.Our room was warm and marvellous. Very cosy and comfortable didn't want to leave. Felt like at home
