I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Fezeu’s Place on Long Avenue, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Randburg isn’t exactly where you’d think to look for a gem, but that’s exactly what this turned out to be. What struck me right away was how the owners have managed to create something that feels genuinely welcoming without trying too hard. You know those places that scream “boutique hotel” at you? This isn’t that. It’s more like staying at a really well-put-together friend’s place – if your friend happened to run a four-star operation. The rooms are thoughtfully designed with these little touches that show someone actually cares about the guest experience. I mean, they’ve got proper bedside lighting for reading (you’d be surprised how many places mess this up) and the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the property.

The location thing is interesting because while Randburg might not be on every tourist’s radar, it’s actually pretty smart if you’re planning to explore beyond the usual Johannesburg hotspots. You’re close enough to get into the city center when you want to, but you’re not dealing with the noise and congestion every single night. Plus, there’s decent parking – which anyone who’s tried to navigate downtown Joburg will tell you is worth its weight in gold. I found myself using it as a base to explore some of the northern suburbs, and honestly, it worked out perfectly. The staff seems to know the area well too, so they can point you toward local spots that aren’t in every guidebook. There’s this little coffee place about ten minutes away that they recommended – turned out to be one of those discoveries that makes a trip memorable.

What really sets Fezeu’s Place apart though is the attention to detail without the pretension. The common areas have this relaxed energy where you might actually want to hang out rather than just pass through. I spent a good chunk of one evening just sitting in their lounge area, planning the next day’s adventures. The whole place has this 9.2 rating for a reason – it’s the kind of spot where small things are done right, from the quality of the towels to the way they handle check-in. Nothing revolutionary, just solid hospitality that makes you feel like they’re glad you’re there.

Travelers should plan their Johannesburg visit at least two months ahead for major events like Heritage Day and Freedom Day celebrations, ensuring the best experiences and prime access to popular districts and attractions.

  It was a great stay. The area is safe and there are shops situated in walking distance of the property. The staff is lovely and very attentive. My stay was more than comfortable. I loved the various streaming options on the TV. I would definitely go back.
