I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Oasis On Lily with OWN Pool on Lily Avenue, I wasn’t expecting much from the name alone. But man, was I wrong. This place absolutely lives up to that “oasis” part, and I mean that in the best possible way. Tucked away in Northcliff, you’re actually in one of Johannesburg’s quieter residential pockets, which is exactly what you want when you need to decompress from the city’s usual chaos.

The moment you walk through the front door of this four-star gem, you get why it’s pulling a 9.8 rating. The owners – and you can tell this is owner-operated, not some corporate chain – have really thought about what travelers actually need. That private pool isn’t just a marketing gimmick either; it’s genuinely your own little slice of paradise where you can float around without dodging other guests or dealing with crowded deck chairs. I spent most of my mornings there with coffee, watching the Johannesburg skyline wake up in the distance. The water’s always perfectly maintained, and honestly, after dealing with the highveld dust all day, that evening swim hits different.

What really got me though was how they’ve nailed the details that matter. The WiFi actually works throughout the property – I’m talking proper speed, not that hotel internet that barely loads your email. Parking is sorted right on the premises, which anyone who’s tried to find street parking in Joburg will appreciate. The neighborhood itself is pretty quiet, especially at night, though you’re still close enough to Melville and the city center that you’re not completely cut off from everything. I mean, you’re maybe twenty minutes from the Cradle of Humankind if you’re into that sort of thing, and the Northcliff area has some surprisingly good restaurants within walking distance. The check-in was refreshingly smooth too – none of that corporate rigmarole, just genuine people who actually seem to care about whether you have what you need. It’s the kind of place where they remember your name by day two, you know?

  An exceptional gem with an Asian flair. We were delighted with our find. A beautifully appointed tranquil place with views from a large covered patio. A perfect place to unwind while actually located close to the buzz of the city.

  This is a stunning property. Unique. Truly an Oasis with amazingly views over the city and beautiful interior/exterior. We only stayed one night but were reluctant to leave. Everything you needed for a longer stay.
