I’ll be honest, when I first saw the name Spacious 2BR APT Near Sandton City -No Loadshedding, I thought “well, that’s refreshingly direct” – and honestly, they’re not kidding around. This four-star apartment on the 15th floor of 5 Benmore Road is exactly what it says on the tin, which in South Africa these days is actually saying quite a lot.

The no loadshedding promise is what initially caught my attention (because let’s face it, if you’ve spent any time in Johannesburg recently, you know how crucial that is), but what really impressed me was how genuinely spacious this place feels. I mean, you walk in and there’s actual room to breathe – both bedrooms are proper sized, not those cramped spaces where you’re bumping into furniture every two seconds. The living area opens up nicely, and from the 15th floor, you get these decent views across Sandton that honestly make the morning coffee ritual feel a bit more civilized. The kitchen is well-kitted out too, which matters if you’re staying more than a few days and get tired of eating out constantly.

Location-wise, you’re really in the thick of things here on Benmore Road – Sandton City is literally a short walk away, which is handy for shopping or grabbing food, and you’re close enough to the Gautrain station that getting around becomes less of a headache. I actually appreciate that it’s not right in the absolute center of the business district chaos, so you get that slightly more residential feel in the evenings, but you’re still close enough to everything that matters. The building itself feels secure and well-maintained, which honestly isn’t always a given, and the lift situation isn’t terrible (I’ve definitely stayed in places where waiting for the elevator becomes a daily meditation practice). What I found refreshing is that the place delivers on its promises without trying to oversell itself – the WiFi actually works properly, the backup power is legit, and the air conditioning does its job without sounding like a helicopter landing on the roof. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Sandton, but it genuinely solves the practical problems that can make or break a stay in Joburg these days.

  What could be improved: There was no welcome water; no welcome condiments like small pack margarine or jam; no dish cloths; toaster is out of order and we had to go without toast; the spare blanket was not clean; the lace curtain from the smaller bedroom was removed and stored in the closet.

  Apartment in an uptown suburb. We unfortunately got to stay there on a weekend that had no water supply. Frustrating for 2 days. Unit is nice size. Spacious. Good view.

  The apartment itself is great, clean, modern fittings, air conditioned, good wifi. Comfortable beds.
  
  What could be improved: There was not enough cutlery and crockery which was frustrating. Access into the building and parking is challenging. We were a family of 5 with 2 cars sharing 1 access key which was challenging at times.
